No one asks to get sick, but life is such and a patient and every person they know stumble around trying to navigate their new world. It's messy and difficult and there isn't much that can prepare you. Reading patient stories is not going to solve your own problems. But it can guide you to empathy. Sometimes when you are in a situation it is tough to step back and see it clearly. So, read someone else’s story. Spend time with it. Draw, write, sing, type, collage, whatever you feel in response. Be there fully with that person. It could open up a path beyond empathy to be more present in your own situation.
